What We Do
We are able to meet the dispute resolution needs of businesses and community organizations in a number of ways.
For our general conflict management service, we can provide workplace conflict management on location or at an alternative location. The idea here is to be as accommodating to the needs of the people involved in the conflict to provide an effective dispute resolution service. We find flexibility with the location necessary since, in some cases, adverse behaviours may be a direct cause of the specific workplace environment.
Group facilitation consists of an external neutral that assists in matters like setting the agenda for a team meeting to ensure that all the issues that need to be addressed in that meeting are well thought-out into the points of discussion. Group facilitation also includes the management of the discussion in such a meeting, where participants may lead the conversation off course and there is limited time for the meeting. Group facilitation differs from mediation in that, there does not need to be clear and identified dispute(s) within the group.
This service is best suited for clients that do not require our involvement with conflict management but would appreciate our expertise in guiding and delivering meetings.
Partnership Facilitation / Mediation
Partnership facilitation differs in its offering from group facilitation in that the discussion may occur before the partnership is formalized and the business developed or after the formalization of the partnership in the event the relationship is broken and in need of repair.
Before the formalization of the partnership agreement and the full development of the business, the opportunity to structure how the partnership will discuss difficult conversations, and what steps should be taken in the event of a dispute or dissolution of the partnership, saves time and money when in dispute or at the end of the partnership. Developing a plan or making an agreement on how to deal with difficult issues at the start, like a prenuptial agreement, safeguards the investment and resources of each partner. At any point in time during these discussions, any member of the partnership should not hesitate to seek independent legal advice.
For partnership mediation that occurs after the formalization of the partnership, our service uses a foundation of emotional intelligence for business to encourage the continued strengths of the partnership and support the development of best practices for working through differences of opinion that arise from time to time in making business decisions. Similar to a workplace mediation session, this discussion is very structured with a prescribed time and expectations in behaviour and style of communication. Upon the completion of this style of mediation, an agreement on how the members of the partnership will communication and behave going forward may be part of the outcome of this process. At any point in time during these discussions, any member of the partnership should feel free to seek independent legal advice.
This service is best suited for clients that do not require our involvement with conflict management systems for their business but would appreciate our expertise in structuring difficult conversations and delivering quality engagements.
